This is going to be one of the most exciting workshops you have taken. The reason for this is you cannot do anything wrong.
You are hopefully going to feel a freedom that this process gave me.
All those “almost” great paintings under your bed or thrown in the drawer will become a part of something much more than they were.
I was starting to feel like I wasn’t enjoying painting like I did initially and I was being very critical of myself and my work. There was always a mistake, or muddiness, or something ugly in a part of the painting but I saved them because there were the “treasures” in each as well, and I thought some day I will pull them out and suddenly magically be able to complete them and they will be beautiful. Little did I realize that in destroying them they would have a new life. In this process even the “ugly” parts will be needed and a valuable part of your new creation. But first we must destroy the original, tear it up and then we will recreate!
